BioEver since she was old enough to know what a detective was, Ava wanted to be one, much to her father's dismay. James Scott was a diplomat and he wanted his daughter to walk the same path he did. He took her with him on his trips to all the corners of the world and made sure she learned the things he found important. Unfortunately, this only ended up in Ava rebelling against her father and going to the Police Academy as soon as she graduated from high school. It wasn't to James' liking that Ava went to a regular high school in the first place, but his wife, Jean, insisted on giving their daughter a 'normal' life. With her father not agreeing with things, Ava was even more driven to be the best. And not just the best, but the best of the best.
When she was fresh out of the Academy, Ava took a job at Interpol, where they could use her very well because she spoke several European languages as a result of her father's teaching. It wasn't really what Ava wanted, but her father was at least a little ok with it. After working in France for years, pushing papers, Ava had enough of living up to her father's standards. She would show him what a good detective she could be. That there are other noble professions next to being a diplomat.
And that was just what Ava did. She worked very hard and gained a good reputation as a detective at the Seattle police department. But to Ava, it wasn't enough. She wanted more, she needed more to show her father she was just as good as a detective. Ava Scott wanted to make Captain. That's why the tall brunette got herself transferred to the Las Vegas Police Department. It all seemed to happen in Vegas and so that's where Ava thought she needed to be.
Because she has been so busy with building her career, Ava has little to no time for friends and lovers, leaving her quite lonely when she can't bury herself in her work. Even though Ava is extremely social, another thing she learned from her father. Ava knows just how to keep everyone pleased and act like a real diplomat and she uses that knowledge to get higher up. It is just that attitude that might make her come off as bitchy, while she is actually far from that. But there are very, very little people that know the real Ava Scott.
